I have just purchased a Kenmore sewing machine and I am trying to get more accessories such as buttonhole foot etc. Looking on Kenmore website some feet are to be used with vertical sewing machines other with horizontal ones and I have no idea what is the difference between the two of them. And also, if my sewing machine is Kenmore do I have to buy feet for it only from Kenmore or any other cheaper brand would work, too? Thank you in advance for your help.

I have loads of fabric and patterns and sewing supplies and tons of scrapbook paper and stuff that I hope to scrapbook in the future. Right now, I have a small desk with my sewing machine and a few unorganized boxes of fabric and patterns. I also have an ugly black plastic scrapbooking cart which I don’t really need (and would love to get rid of) Any suggestions on ways I can take up less space and keep all my stuff organized?

I while ago I got hold of an old second-hand Vigorelli sewing machine. It did work a bit, but now I can’t use it. The top thread gets chewed up, resulting in a mass in the bobbin area. I’ve tried adjusting the tension - the bottom thread seems not tense enough even with the bobbin screw turned fully to the right. I think this might be a common problem, because my parents used to have one that did the same thing. So hopefully someone can help. Thanks!
I should mention that I want to try to fix this myself. If I was going to use a repairman I wouldn’t need to ask.

I live in San Jose, CA and I want to make a slipcover for my sofa. My problem is that I don’t own a sewing machine and in an attempt to save money on buying a slipcover I want to make it myself. I was wondering if there is a place to rent one. I’m worried that if I get a seamstress to do it for me I won’t really be saving any money. Any suggestions?

What do the numbers on sewing machine needles mean? I just replaced my needle and my old one was 90/14 I believe and my new one is 80/12.
Thanks! I’m thinking its a normal tip. I buy the Schmetz Universal Needles.
