I recently found a great deal on an older (1960’s) sewing cabinet at a thrift store (solid wood in excellent shape with drawers!). It didn’t come with a machine, but appeared to be able to accept a most machines. So I got it and brought it home, hoping to take the machine I have in an older cabinet out. However, I found that the older machine (1950’s?) will not fit in my new cabinet. (It mounted differently and was too short.) I plan to sell my old machine and cabinet at a yard sale, and want to find out what kind of machine I need to look for to work with my new cabinet. Instead of having a place for a standard rectangular base, it has more like an “L”. The machines I have seen in the stores recently don’t match this. I love the cabinet and want to find the correct machine to fit it so I can use it for my hobby sewing. Any help you would give me on this would be great. Thanks!

I am just learning to use my sewing machine which is a standard Singer sewing machine. The stitches on top of the fabric are perfect, but the stitches on the underside are horrible, just a tangled mess. What adjustments to I need to make?

You know, the foot pumping, people powered sewing machine base with a belt. What is a good use besides a tv stand or tabletop?

I just bought a basic sewing machine and my neighbor is willing to show me how to use it. I have little, very little, experience with a sewing machine. She is not sure how much to charge me for about 4 hours of instruction and I don’t want to cheat her. What do you think would be an okay amount?

I have just purchased a Kenmore sewing machine and I am trying to get more accessories such as buttonhole foot etc. Looking on Kenmore website some feet are to be used with vertical sewing machines other with horizontal ones and I have no idea what is the difference between the two of them. And also, if my sewing machine is Kenmore do I have to buy feet for it only from Kenmore or any other cheaper brand would work, too? Thank you in advance for your help.

I have been sewing with the same machine for 20 years and it’s time for a new one. How do I sift through all the information and pick the best machine for my needs and budget. I’ve been told Janome is the best-does anyone have anything to share on this?
