I have a 1975 White Sewing machine, very good machine, never had problems before…now, for some reason, the needle is making a loop for the bobbin thread but not pulling the thread out. I have checked and re-checked the bobbin and checked & re-checked the threading of the needle, and everything looks fine…anybody out there have any suggestions?

I have several antique Singer sewing machines, some from the 1800’s.
Where Can I Find Out The Value of Antique SINGER Sewing Machines. Any Websites With Pictures That I Can Look At? I need to be able to compare what I have to a picture, so I can figure out their value.

Ok, call me a major procrastinator, because i am. I just now got around to opening this singer sewing machine and i am totally overwhelmed with the instructions and dont think i can or will operate this thing. Do u think after 4 months BJ’s will issue me a refund? thanks btw, its never been used.
Well, just to let u all know that i did call, thanks for that advice, and they will refund my money:)) I guess i was a little too embarrassed to call initially. And since i have the receipt , they will give me a refund, ty all.

I really need a good starter/beginer sewing book that covers the basic wardrobe (all the patterns i can find are costumes..) and preferably comes with some type of pattern that will fit a few different sizes. i just need some recommendations on which ones are better because there are so many.

The model is a 8234 (I think…. Thats the only number I can find on it). I’ve tried pushing / changing the button’s but can’t seem to find it.
Any idea’s?
Maybe other Singer models have a similar mechanism - or even any other types of sewing machines that may give me an idea of where it may be… ? Any help would be great :)

I’m not referring to the ones in the sewing machine, I understand the weight of different materials need a heavier needle. What I’m talking about is the opening to thread the needle, why is it so small? I spent too long trying to thread one this morning. If they would make the opening bigger, it would be easier.
I’m talking about the hole the thread goes through, not the needle itself. I know about different fabrics.

Our Singer sewing machine only goes at the fastest speed. If you change it to a slower speed, it still goes its fastest. If I were to replace the peddle, would it fix the problem?

I’m considering purchasing a Brother 60 Stitch Computerized Free Arm Sewing Machine With Multiple Stitch Functions and I need to know definitely if it will sew through heavy materials such as denim, canvas tapestry, upholstery material, etc.

If not what brand sewing machine should I take a look at (Singer, perhaps?) that will do the above?

I have just inherited an antique Singer Treadle sewing machine from my grandfather and I want to restore it. The only problem is that it has been sitting in a corner for more than 40 years and is very dusty inside. I know I can use Old English on the wood, but I don’t know what to use on the cast iron legs or the machine itself.

I have a Bicor VX1005 sewing machine, I just bent the needle and have no more. Does any one know where to get one. It is a regular needle, are all sewing needles the same? Does it have to be a Bicor?

I’m using flannelette and ideally I would like a serged edge, but I don’t own a serger. Is it possible to get a similar effect using my sewing machine? (it’s an older Singer model)

I have sewing machine model 15 and I want to quilt. I’ve read up and it says that I might need a walking foot but the only foot I can find for my machine is a even feed foot. Is that the same thing or is it different? Could I use that for quilting anyways? Do I really need one?
