My sewing genie either gobs up under the pressure foot (sorry if my terminology is a little off, bare with me the last time I used a sewing machine was 35 years ago in “home ec”) where the bobbin is, or the upper thread breaks. I do not have the instruction manual in hand, but had it read to me over the phone, so I think I have the thread placed properly (not sure, of course). I did have some luck, so I know there is hope. Thanks for your time :)

Go to the manufacturers website and look for an on line manual. Perhaps pictures of the type of sewing machine are available there as well. Do you have a friend who is a bit more used to sewing with a machine? Ask her (or him) to take a look and see if they can get you going. Also the store where you bought it should be able to help you!
